Standardized Test Preparation

Our test preparation programs combine the most effective methods of test prep with a personal touch. First and foremost, we believe that knowledge of the subject is a prerequisite for successful test-taking. We encourage and help students to establish long term goals and acquire knowledge of the subject in a systemic and disciplined manner.

The scope of the test prep program is determined by EAS and the frequency and duration is customized for each student thus providing the opportunity to pinpoint weak areas and concentrate on improving them. We engage our students in a rigorous routine that includes review of all concepts and practice of targeted test and teach them efficient time management skills, test taking strategies and techniques on maintaining high levels of concentration for prolonged periods of time.

ISEE/SSAT

EAS Coaches who specialize in working with middle school children prepare students for the SSAT or the ISEE for entry to the secondary school of choice. We recognize that for many students this is often the first major standardized exam that they experience and therefore employ a supportive and controlled introduction to test-taking techniques. Students are prepared for the exam through age-appropriate methods and approaches.

SAT/PSAT

The EAS SAT Course is a two-part preparation that focuses on test strategies and content review, tailored to the needs of individual students. We begin with a thorough review of math, reading, vocabulary and writing skills. Once students develop an understanding of these core concepts they are introduced to test taking approaches. Students learn how to master timing, avoid making careless errors and apply personalized test-taking strategies by being exposed to simulated SAT tests.

SAT Subject Tests

The preparation begins with a diagnostic SAT Subject Test in the appropriate subject. Based on the result of the diagnostic test we design the course of preparation. Students work with EAS SAT Coach to review concepts and relevant material and refine test-taking approaches.

NYS Tests (Mathematics and ELA) We offer a study regimen that focuses on reviewing foundations of language and mathematics and is designed to solidify grade-specific standards and introduce and fortify test taking strategies. A wide array of exercises builds understanding and confidence.

Specialized High School Entrance Exam

We begin the preparation process with a thorough review of pertinent information and concepts in mathematics and English language. Special attention is paid to areas of weakness to ensure full comprehension of the subject matter. Students are introduced to test-taking strategies and learn to apply these methods.

New York State Regents Test Preparation

Regents are exams given to students seeking high school Regents credit through the New York State Education Department, designed and administered under the authority of the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York.

To receive a regular high school diploma, students in New York State must pass, with a score of 65 or higher, five Regents Exams: Integrated Algebra (or Math A), Global History and Geography, U.S. History and Government, Comprehensive English, and at least one Regents level science course (Earth Science, Biology/Living Environment, Chemistry, or Physics). To receive an Advanced Regents Diploma, students must also pass an additional Regents science exam, an additional math exam (Math B), and a foreign language exam.

EAS offers private, in home Academic Subject tutoring for students of all levels from middle school to high school. Maintaining a high GPA is a key component of having a competitive college application. We can work hand in hand with your curriculum to help you stay at the top of the class.

Mock Testing

Practicing standardized tests under test-like conditions is an important component of standardized exam prep. As an integral part of our programs, EAS offers proctored exams for students preparing for any major standardized test. Students receive an individualized score report and the results of the exams are reviewed during regular tutoring sessions.

We administer practice SAT, ACT, SAT II, PSAT and SHSAT tests on select Saturdays and Sundays throughout the school year at our designated locations throughout the five boroughs. We begin the tests promptly at 3:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. So, please arrive at our designated locations by 2:45 pm on either Saturday and Sunday to sign-in.

Test Prep Services - Small Group At-Home Classes

If your son or daughter has friends who are at a similar academic level, and work with similar diligence, this small class option presents an economical way to maximize your results. In many cases, four to ten students have coalesced to form a class that meets around a dining room table, in a furnished basement, or in a home office.

We can come to anyone's home that has a large dining room table or basement area. We bring a "white board" and an easel and ask that you keep it on hand until the final class session.

If you are interested in a small prep class and have friends who could be doing this WITH you, consider organizing an at-home class. Our
highly-qualified instructors come to YOU, on your schedule! For more information, including pricing and other customization options. Feel free to refer your friends and their parents,

Please let us know if we can answer any further questions. Our direct number is 646-481-8216. Once again, thank you for your interest in EAS. We look forward to helping you and your classmates maximize your SHSAT/SAT/ACT/PSAT/ISEE/ SSAT scores.
